Welcome to the USS Montana!

Welcome to the Federation Starship USS Montana NCC-1889
A member of the Independence Fleet.

We are a semi-canon based sim, having commenced our voyages in 2289, approximately two years after the events of the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home with some modifications to the continuity.

We are now six months after the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which is set in 2293. Thus the Federation and Starfleet are still expanding and the period of great exploration is underway. Are the Klingons we meet now friendly and trustworthy, or are they still dangerous and aggressive antagonists...

Key deviations from canon in our alternate timeline include:

1. StarTrek: The Motion Picture never happened but Captain James T Kirk completed a second five year mission and was promoted to Admiral;

2. The events in the other movies occurred as shown on screen:
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

3. At the end Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, James T. Kirk is demoted from Admiral to Commodore. He and the Enterprise were sent off on a third and final five year mission.
Sulu left the ship and was promoted to Captain of the Excelsior.

4. For us the future is open and unknown...

» Wiki updates with schematics and maps

Posted on Wed Jan 13th, 2021 @ 1:38pm by Captain RS Harrison in Website Update

I’ve made some wiki page updates primarily regarding phasers and communicators and track orders which results in four pieces of equipment that make it redesigned in the game.

I’ve also posted the deck plans in the map as a wiki page for reference without a better option I think will adopt those soon.

Similarly I have posted a link to a map of Federation space.

I also think there’s one other wiki page update but good night.

» Congratulations Mr. Ryson

Posted on Sun Jan 10th, 2021 @ 10:20am by Captain RS Harrison in Sim Announcement

I messaged Mr. Ryson privately but I thought I'd make a News item.

Mr. Ryson's post is Great. It is just about exactly what I asked for (I'm not looking) but I just read it and I was very please with what he turned in.

Congratulations, Mr. Ryson and thank you.

Feel free to post again while we wait for me to nudge us out of Spacedock. I think I mentioned everyone can make multiple posts like this so go ahead everyone.

Ryson put up a good example.

Anyone can contact me with questions but my schedule is weird and I may not reply quickly.

Thanks again.

P.S. I've read some other stuff that isn't published but since this is published and you can all see it I wanted to congratulate him in public. I've gotten a few questions and samples from players who clearly did not read my initial instructions and I was worried that I had not been clear but I'm satisfied now that I was not too vague in my assignment regarding the first post and that is partly why I'm making this public comment. That and Ryson's post was also enjoyable as noted. And... we're off!

ON:

[officers observation lounge]

Kestra couldn't sleep. Well, that wasn't true; she was afraid of sleeping. Every night for the past few days, she would fall asleep. Then that darn Reman would visit in her mind. It wasn't like she could walk away or anything. Blast him! So, here she…

The Ship moved into its hiding spot, and, for a moment, they were safe.

While repairs were made, the command team assembled in the Captain's quarters for a meeting.

Drinking his Diet Pepsi, the Captain said, "Okay, what have we learned, and what do we do next?"

Looking over the…

ON:

The Shuttle made it back to the ship and the Romulan ship "hung" in space. Something did not sit right with the crew, this was all to easy and something is going on.

Kestra's hands rubbed together. Part of her kept thinking that ship on the planet was going…

Kestra, Ryan, and Murphy had arrived at the hangar.
Kestra frowned, "This is far more active then I had hoped for" Kestra frowned as she touched her forehead again it hadn't been 4 hours yet but it was still Romulan.

Steve scanned the area looking to gather more…

Executive Officer's personal log.

Our "routine" visit to Babel was anything but. The crew performed admirably under less than ideal conditions. I'll formally recognize several crew members, including Ensign Odonnel and Lieutenant Mitchell. Lieutenant Ryan, on the other hand, showed exemplary ability on this mission. Often operating unsupervised, he was…

Posted on Mon Sep 18th, 2023 @ 10:50am by Lieutenant Steve Ryan

Well, we're finally back onboard the USS Montana.

My experience as a "Captain" had been short but quite eventful. An alien damaged vessel, a reduced crew made mostly of engineers, unknown technology to repair and fix and, in between all that, someone threatening to blow us to pieces, as if…
