General Overview		He shows empathy to others and would prefer to deescalate a situation. If that doesn't work, he doesn't pull his punches. He is laid back and quiet when you meet him. Once he's comfortable around you, he can be loud. He likes to laugh, and doesn't like to see people around him unhappy. Loves his parents and his brother.
Strengths & Weaknesses		STRENGTHS: People have tended to gravitate towards him, because of his quiet nature. Leads by example. WEAKNESSES: He used to consider himself too trusting, but not since 2282. Is hard on himself when things go wrong.
Ambitions		He knows his next posting will be Executive Officer on a larger vessel, possibly an Excelsior class. Hopefully that will set him up to command one of his own in the future.

Personal History		Grew up near the Great Lakes in North America.
Service Record		Starfleet Academy class of 2280, graduated top of his class. 2280 Assigned to USS Ahwahnee (Constitution class) as a Security Officer. 2281 Promoted to Lieutenant (j.g.) after being recognized for exemplary performance of duty. 2282 Awarded a Starfleet medal of valor and promoted to Lieutenant. 2283-2285 Transferred to USS Trial (Miranda class) as Assistant Chief of Security with a promotion to Lieutenant Commander. He was reluctant to leave the Constitution class vessel, but could not pass up the promotion opportunity. 2285 Transferred to USS Montana (Miranda class) to serve as Chief of Security and Executive Officer. 2285 A new Chief of Security was brought aboard the Montana; Murphy now focused on his duties as Executive Officer.
