Welcome to the USS Montana!
Welcome to the Federation Starship USS Montana NCC-1889
A member of the Independence Fleet.
A member of the Independence Fleet.
We are a semi-canon based sim, having commenced our voyages in 2289, approximately two years after the events of the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home with some modifications to the continuity.
We are now six months after the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which is set in 2293. Thus the Federation and Starfleet are still expanding and the period of great exploration is underway. Are the Klingons we meet now friendly and trustworthy, or are they still dangerous and aggressive antagonists...
Key deviations from canon in our alternate timeline include:
1. StarTrek: The Motion Picture never happened but Captain James T Kirk completed a second five year mission and was promoted to Admiral;
2. The events in the other movies occurred as shown on screen:
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
3. At the end Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, James T. Kirk is demoted from Admiral to Commodore. He and the Enterprise were sent off on a third and final five year mission.
Sulu left the ship and was promoted to Captain of the Excelsior.
4. For us the future is open and unknown...

» Wiki updates with schematics and maps
Posted on Wed Jan 13th, 2021 @ 1:38pm by Captain RS Harrison in Website Update
I’ve made some wiki page updates primarily regarding phasers and communicators and track orders which results in four pieces of equipment that make it redesigned in the game.
I’ve also posted the deck plans in the map as a wiki page for reference without a better option I think will adopt those soon.
Similarly I have posted a link to a map of Federation space.
I also think there’s one other wiki page update but good night.

I messaged Mr. Ryson privately but I thought I'd make a News item.
Mr. Ryson's post is Great. It is just about exactly what I asked for (I'm not looking) but I just read it and I was very please with what he turned in.
Congratulations, Mr. Ryson and thank you.
Feel free to post again while we wait for me to nudge us out of Spacedock. I think I mentioned everyone can make multiple posts like this so go ahead everyone.
Ryson put up a good example.
Anyone can contact me with questions but my schedule is weird and…

Mission: Children of the Stars
Posted on Sat Aug 30th, 2025 @ 7:03am by Ensign Fiona Flores & Lieutenant JG Brandon Smith
Fiona lay on her back beneath a set of blankets and sheets in her bed, groaning as she looked at the featureless ceiling in her darkened quarters. She had tried everything from warm milk, meditation, a follow-up session on the treadmill in the gym, and even reading the ship's schematics. Yet, despite her best efforts over the previous four hours, Fiona was unable to fall into slumber.
Gritting her teeth, Fiona rolled over onto her side and aggressively thumped her neighbouring wall, shouting, "SHUT UP!" The low pulse of music emitting from her neighbour's quarters had been playing non-stop. Fiona…

Mission: Children of the Stars

[Personal Quarters]
Deborah pinched the bridge of her nose, the PADD’s glow painting her face in pale blue light. A falsified log wasn’t impossible, half the engineering staff had been known to fudge maintenance entries when they were late for mess. But this wasn’t a lazy clerical slip. Someone had intentionally removed an active plasma phase regulator from inventory and used the Chief Engineer’s clearance to do it.
"Did they just forgot to change it?" she wondered "No, can't be" she said it out aloud while shaking her dark hair "we would have an extra piece in the inventory" she…

{Personal Quarters}
As Kestra entered her Quarters, she readied herself to catch a flying clawed feline. Catching him in the air, she gave a little laugh. “You are living up to your name, Savage.” She turned him to look into his bright green eyes. “So, we have an intruder.”
The cat licked his lips. Looking like he was going to get a tasty treat.
“Oh, I am not sure he is edible, but he is causing me trouble.” Kestra's fingers stroked his golden fur with the dark spots. “Can you behave if we go to the lab?” she asked…

Mission: Children of the Stars
Posted on Wed Aug 27th, 2025 @ 3:18pm by Lieutenant Commander Steve Ryan & Ensign Fiona Flores
Fiona strolled through Deck 5, dressed in nothing but a slate-blue crop top that ended above her navel, matching bicycle shorts, and white trainers. Ruffling a white towel through her loose dark hair, she draped it around her shoulders and retied her long hair into a high ponytail as she approached her quarters.
Entering her quarters, Fiona tossed the towel carelessly across the room, watching it land in a damp heap in the corner. She approached her replicator and instructed, "Coffee, black, no sugar or milk." Watching it materialise, she collected the saucer, and cup, before standing at the window,…

[XO Office]
The XO office, not really wide and spacey, was practical to say the least. The desk was simple: dark brushed duranium with a black glassy top, a 3D printed model of an alien starship rested on the edge of it, as a reminder of Commander Ryan’s past successes. PaDDs and mission notes were scattered around the desk on all the available space.
A single viewport behind the XO's desk offers a modest view of space, often half-obscured by structural ribs that cross the outer hull — but in the stillness between duty shifts, starlight pours in, stark and…

Captain's Personal Log.
We leave Janus VI in the hands of the Klingons. It feels like we wasted effort trying to keep it away from them for these last weeks. We have to trust in the wisdom of the diplomats. I've never heard of the Federation willingly ceding territory to the Klingons, but there are certainly factors we are unaware of. Perhaps we got something we needed in exchange for a mining planet in need of rehabilitation. I still can't help but feel as though we were defeated.
Oh, I also finally looked into the interesting events in Engineering with…

Captain's Log.
I'm almost done with my report on the incident with the Athena. The scans of the area confirmed Lieutenant Mitchell's analysis. The ship had alien and other incompatible parts hooked up to it's engine, most likely trying to improve on it's existing design. Several of the parts could have led to the explosions, making the report a little more tedious than usual. I have to wonder what kind of a Captain is making decisions that puts money and profit ahead of their crew.
Two survivors. And only because we were here. Had I decided to stay at Janus…

Computer, begin Captain's Personal Log.
The Klingons are gone, but I'll bet they'll be back. It's my understanding the pergium mine here at Janus VI is vital to the Federation. I can't do anything to get it up and running again, but I worry that if I leave it'll fall to the Klingons or another faction. My hope is that nothing happens to challenge our stand here. No other incident, no emergency, no other ships arrive. Unless they're the diplomats or the new miners, of course.
It would be unfortunate if how this unfolds becomes the way my time in…

==Personal quarters USS Montana==
Coming out of the shower, Kestra frowned as she ran her fingers through her hair. It had got very long in the time being on the ship. As she twisted it up in high ponytail, the long dark waves reached her back. Kestra had to keep reminding herself that her life had become boring and predictable on the base stations. She had dreamed of adventure. The subtle mysteries other ships had brought to the base stations she had served on had been intriguing. But, far too much time had passed in between the visits to…

We arrived at Janus VI and met with the locals aboard the ship. They are requesting medical equipments and anti radiation assets but they are not disclosing why they need them. To be honest their behavior during the meeting was all but comforting.
Lt. Ral has the feeling they are lying and I trust her judgement, besides, they didn't convince me either.
They are making preparation to have us on the planet but I want to beat them to it and see closely what we are dealing with. I asked permission to the captain to lead a small landing party…
