Welcome to the USS Montana!
Welcome to the Federation Starship USS Montana NCC-1889
A member of the Independence Fleet.
A member of the Independence Fleet.
We are a semi-canon based sim, having commenced our voyages in 2289, approximately two years after the events of the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home with some modifications to the continuity.
We are now six months after the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which is set in 2293. Thus the Federation and Starfleet are still expanding and the period of great exploration is underway. Are the Klingons we meet now friendly and trustworthy, or are they still dangerous and aggressive antagonists...
Key deviations from canon in our alternate timeline include:
1. StarTrek: The Motion Picture never happened but Captain James T Kirk completed a second five year mission and was promoted to Admiral;
2. The events in the other movies occurred as shown on screen:
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
3. At the end Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, James T. Kirk is demoted from Admiral to Commodore. He and the Enterprise were sent off on a third and final five year mission.
Sulu left the ship and was promoted to Captain of the Excelsior.
4. For us the future is open and unknown...

» Wiki updates with schematics and maps
Posted on Wed Jan 13th, 2021 @ 1:38pm by Captain RS Harrison in Website Update
I’ve made some wiki page updates primarily regarding phasers and communicators and track orders which results in four pieces of equipment that make it redesigned in the game.
I’ve also posted the deck plans in the map as a wiki page for reference without a better option I think will adopt those soon.
Similarly I have posted a link to a map of Federation space.
I also think there’s one other wiki page update but good night.

Posted on Sun Jan 10th, 2021 @ 10:20am by Captain RS Harrison in Sim Announcement
I messaged Mr. Ryson privately but I thought I'd make a News item.
Mr. Ryson's post is Great. It is just about exactly what I asked for (I'm not looking) but I just read it and I was very please with what he turned in.
Congratulations, Mr. Ryson and thank you.
Feel free to post again while we wait for me to nudge us out of Spacedock. I think I mentioned everyone can make multiple posts like this so go ahead everyone.
Ryson put up a good example.
Anyone can contact me with questions but my schedule is weird and I may not reply quickly.
Thanks again.
P.S. I've read some other stuff that isn't published but since this is published and you can all see it I wanted to congratulate him in public. I've gotten a few questions and samples from players who clearly did not read my initial instructions and I was worried that I had not been clear but I'm satisfied now that I was not too vague in my assignment regarding the first post and that is partly why I'm making this public comment. That and Ryson's post was also enjoyable as noted. And... we're off!

Mission: Through the Looking Glass
Posted on Sat Dec 14th, 2024 @ 11:20am by Lieutenant Commander Steve Ryan
Steve sat at his desk, reviewing a stack of PADDs from the various departments. The new position came with plenty of bureaucratic tasks, but he didn’t mind. He actually enjoyed working through the science lab's requests just as much as poring over the stellar cartography data for their current mission.…

The mess hall had been transformed into a spooky hangout. The lights were dimmed, a low fog clung to the floor, and some decorations were hung on the walls. Commander Murphy had looked up old earth Halloween traditions, which had led to him setting up bobbing for apples and…

ON:
"We are coming up on the Finibus System now, sirs," Lieutenant Mann announced.
"Thank you," Commander Murphy responded. In their home universe, the Finibus System was the site of both a Federation colony and an active black hole. They had briefed the crew about the possibility of the need…

After a few hours at warp, the ship came into the Sol Sector.
"Take us to impulse, Lt. Mann, ordered the Captain."
Hitting a button on his chair, "Commander to all command staff, report to the bridge."
From his COO Office, Lt. Ryan heard the captain's communication and acknowledged it,…

I’ve just returned from a meeting with Captain Murphy, and I still can’t quite believe what I’m about to record. As of this morning, I’ve been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and offered the position of Executive Officer aboard the USS Montana.
I still can’t believe it.

Captain's Personal Log.
My first one.
I never expected to Captain the Montana. I was certain Captain Adams would be here forever, and I'd move on to another ship. Maybe a larger ship. But apparently the brass had other plans. Captain Adams was summoned to Starfleet Headquarters for some new…

Executive Officer's personal log.
We just got home from a crazy adventure. Two trips through a black hole. I still can't believe everything turned out okay. Starfleet's top scientists say this was a one in a million event that we somehow accomplished twice.

On top of that, we had…

Executive Officer's personal log.
Our "routine" visit to Babel was anything but. The crew performed admirably under less than ideal conditions. Often operating unsupervised, he was…
