Meeting

Posted on Mon Dec 4th, 2023 @ 8:59pm by Commander Michael Murphy & Captain Jackson Adams & Petty Officer 3rd Class Valentia Ferrón

Mission: Home Sweet home.
Location: USS Montana
Timeline: Current

Valentina reviewed the electronic files that the Captain needed to read and sign, organizing from most to least important. As she perused the documents, she formed a better idea of the situation facing the ship.

She was interrupted by the opening of the door into the vestibule outside the Captain’s Ready Room. Valentina stood up from her chair behind the Yeoman's station to greet the visitor.

The Captain walked inside and say his new Petty Officer. "Hello there, Petty Officer. How are we today?"

Valentina was slightly taken back. He was much more disheveled than she expected a Star Fleet Captain to look. "Fine, Captain," she replied rather distractedly.

"Very good then. Never mind how I look, I am not sure what kicked me harder, the last shot, or the last drink."

Remembering various remedies that her mother used on her older brothers after a victory bender, Valentina offered, "Can I get you some water or coffee? Perhaps a stimulant shot?

"Maybe some tea, Petty Officer. Two sugars and some milk inside, please" replied the Captain.

"Yes, Captain," Valentina acknowledged. She handed the him the PADD with the organized reports and proceeded to the replicator.

Commander Murphy walked in, and stopped short when he saw the two of them. "Am I interrupting?" he asked.

"Good Morning, Commander," Valentina replied, "I was preparing tea for the Captain. Is there anything that I can get for you?"

"Greetings, Commander, you are never interrupting. Have you reviewed the daily reports? We do get underway soon."

"No, thank you, ma'am," he turned to the Captain. "I have, sir. We should be able to leave on schedule." He stopped. "Actually, some tea does sound nice."

Valentina inclined her head in acknowledgment and turned toward the replicator. She was struck by the First Officer's politeness. It reminded her of an older gentleman in her childhood that had treated everyone with respect, despite differences in age or station.

The Captain sat and drank his drink and started to feel better. "Petty Officer, you are great! Thank you for your help this morning."

"Thank you, sir," Valentia acknowledged. She had been in Star Fleet long enough to recognize an official dismissal. She withdrew unobtrusively and went to gather information by other means.
