A Time For Planning

Posted on Tue Jul 25th, 2023 @ 3:25pm by Captain Michael Murphy & Captain Jackson Adams & Lieutenant Commander Steve Ryan

Mission: The World We Never Knew
Location: USS Montana, Captain's Quarters

ON:

Murphy arrived for the scheduled briefing in the Captain's quarters. He saw he was the first one there, besides Captain Adams himself.

Murphy greeted Adams with a quick, "Captain", and found a spot near him to await the others.

Lt. Ryan entered the room with his uniform in order and a data PaDD between his hands. He acknowledged the captain and the XO and aimed towards his usual seat in the room, silently sitting and waiting for the rest of the officers to gather.

"There is coffee and/or tea over there for anyone that wants it" said the Captain as he pointed to what he was talking about.

"I see we have ourselves in a jar of pickles this time. How do we do anything and, at the same time, stay within the prime directive?" continued the Captain.

Lt. Ryan stood up "Thank you, Sir, I really need a cup of coffee" he said motioning towards the coffee machine and getting a cup of it to then return to his seating place awaiting for the senior officers to take the lead on the options.

"Does the prime directive apply? They have space travel and already relocated from their original planet," Murphy suggested.

Captain Adams spoke up, "If people are going to die, I don't care about the Prime Directive, I care more that we are saving the lives of different people. Commander Murphy, do you have a plan? Does anyone else here have an idea?"

With that, he took a drink from his Soda and waited for an answer.

Murphy spoke up. "My plan is to relocate the transplanted people to another planet. Preferably an uninhabited one where they can have a fresh start, or else an inhabited one where they can seek asylum. Lieutenant Ryan and Ensign O'Donnel have volunteered to take a team to attempt to repair the original crashed ship, so that they can leave on their own."

Steve waited for Murphy to finish his speech before taking the word and nodding at his suggestion.

"Yes sir" he echoed "me and Ensign O'Donnel already selected a small team. It will be me, a couple of engineers and a security detachment made of three." he explained "Having them to leave with their own ship would be beneficial and would put us in no risk of breaching any Prime Directive or entering in a difficult relationship with the Babel population and government too." he concluded.

The Captain appeared satisfied, so Murphy turned to Lieutenant Ryan, "Make it happen. Time is limited, so let's not waste any of it."
