Exploring the Unknown

We arrived at Janus VI and met with the locals aboard the ship. They are requesting medical equipments and anti radiation assets but they are not disclosing why they need them. To be honest their behavior during the meeting was all but comforting.
Lt. Ral has the feeling they are lying and I trust her judgement, besides, they didn't convince me either.
They are making preparation to have us on the planet but I want to beat them to it and see closely what we are dealing with. I asked permission to the captain to lead a small landing party that would touch ground a bit far from the main areas and scout a bit arund. I would like to know more to better understand how to proceed from that.
I asked Ms. Ral to be part of the team, her knowledge on the scientific matters is unvaluable. Especially in such situations.
For now I asked for more in depth scans of the surface. Maybe we can get more information on what's going on down there before setting foot on Janus VI. Getting to know wether we can expose ourselves to the planet's hazards without bothering too much is for sure the priority for the landing team.
Results of the scans should be almost ready. I'm going to review them before leaving the Montana.
