Personality & Traits

General Overview T’Pek is most definitely a “child of two worlds” - having been born on Vulcan, grew up on Earth, and returned to Vulcan due to her education. She is neither typically Human nor Vulcan in her mannerisms or personality, but a mix of both. She understands that she feels emotions and she isn’t afraid to show them when she feels comfortable to do so.
Strengths & Weaknesses She has excellent piloting skills, and is also extremely knowledgeable of science; an amalgamation of her time at the Vulcan science academy, and Starfleet academy.
She has a Vulcan intellect, and approaches everything with a logical viewpoint. Her problem solving skills are exemplary.

She can have a short fuse at times, though this is usually centred around any frustration she may be experiencing at that time. Though these frustrations are often short-lived, it does surprise people when they see an angry Vulcan cursing at science equipment.
Ambitions T’Pek is very confident at her role at helm, however she is unsure whether command is in her future. Whilst she would enjoy the opportunity to progress in her career, she would rather climb the ranks in a traditional manner, by becoming 2XO, then XO, and then possibly CO after this. Though she is in no hurry to move on from helm anytime soon.
Hobbies & Interests T’Pek enjoys playing Kal-toh, and can often be found in the leisure lounge challenging opponents when off duty. She is also a keen player of tri-dimensional chess, but is still trying to perfect her strategies.

Personal History T’Pek was born on 12th ta’Krat 2259 in the Vulcan city of Khir Ahl, near the Thanar Sea. She was the only child of Sh’ial, a Vulcan history professor and priest based at one of the temples within Khir Ahl, and Melodie Morel, a human diplomat based on Vulcan.

When T’Pek was five years old, the family moved to Earth. Melodie had been given an opportunity for career progression within Starfleet’s diplomatic corps and it was something she could not easily turn down. Sh’ial became a professor of Vulcan philosophy at Starfleet Academy and also assumed a pastoral role for the Vulcan students at the academy.

Growing up from such a young age primarily around humans, T’Pek found herself fully immersed within human culture. To her father’s initial disproval the young girl conveyed herself more as human than Vulcan throughout her childhood and teenage years. However, wishing to win some approval from her father, T’Pek chose to defer her application to Starfleet Academy in favour of attending the Vulcan Science Academy when she finished high school. This brought great pleasure to her Vulcan father, but he did not readily admit this fact.

VULCAN SCIENCE ACADEMY

T’Pek enrolled at the Vulcan Science Academy in 2277 following an impressive application and successfully passing the stringent entry examinations. Whilst studying on Vulcan, she found that she was able to learn much more about her people and her heritage by actually being on the planet. After 5 years she completed her studies at the science academy and returned to Earth.

STARFLEET ACADEMY

T’Pek returned to Earth following her time at the science Academy, and continued her studies at Starfleet Academy. In 2286 she successfully graduated as an Ensign, specialising in piloting and helm operations.

USS DENVER

Immediately following her graduation, T’Pek was successful in applying for a place onboard the USS Denver under Captain Helen Kane. Although there was a full compliment of helm officers onboard the Denver and the young officer found herself manning the delta-shift, T’Pek found her two years onboard to be incredibly beneficial.

USS STARBURST

T’Pek’s next posting was the USS Starburst under Captain Rex Bellieu in 2288. Despite being a junior officer, T’Pek found herself being offered the post of Assistant Chief Helm Officer. She was incredibly appreciative for the offer and knew she would need to shine or drown. Thankfully she took the role and responsibility seriously, and consistently impressed her commanding officer. T’Pek remained on the Starburst for three years before being offered an exciting opportunity at Starfleet Academy.

STARFLEET ACADEMY

T’Pek found herself being offered a teaching role at Starfleet Academy in 2291. Due to her recent field experience, and her experience in the Vulcan Science Academy, it was felt that the young officer was a perfect candidate to teach introductory piloting and helm operations to the new academy recruits. At first she was apprehensive, but after settling into the role and being offered support from the faculty, T’Pek soon found her feet.

USS MONTANA

In 2293, T’Pek found herself yearning to be back among the stars. Through her contacts at the Academy, she learned of a starship that was in need of a Chief Helm Officer, the USS Montana. She worked on her application for days before submitting it. Finally she was given a positive response from the CO, and a place onboard the Miranda-class ship as its Chief Helm Officer.
